Choreography and Communication: This workshop will focus on specific ways to communicate a free and musical approach to technique, using child-friendly language, and pianistic repertoire. The words we choose do matter in helping to create an atmosphere that is conducive to a relaxed but productive lesson.
Growing Pains in Nature’s Music Schedule: Let’s take a look at ways to ease those musical growing pains and keep students playing for a lifetime. The focus will be on effective practice techniques and motivational ideas for every type of student.
Young and Impressionable: The unique musical and pianistic elements found in the music of Debussy and Ravel require new skills not easily found in method books and preparatory piano literature. More than ever, our 21st century students are naturally drawn to the style and the goal of this workshop is to highlight musical stepping stones to a more successful first masterpiece.
But What Does “Musical Mean”? Do some of your students play precisely but with little feeling for the music? Do you feel drained trying to get them to care about more than just the notes? Join Jennifer as she shares teaching tips and repertoire that will bring students’ natural expression to the surface.
The Wisdom of the Sonatina Masters: You know that sonatinas are valuable teaching pieces, but here is more information on just why they work so well and what we need to know to get the most out of the pedagogical elements. Features include an in-depth look at the sonatinas of Muzio Clementi and Frierdich Kuhlau.
